Our featured artist is Peggy Banks and she will be joined by her Husband and their band ‘The Other Side” for a special Jazz and Art Night Saturday March 28th from 6-9pm. Please stop by and check out this great combination while enjoying complimentary Hors d’oeuvre from Magnolia Square Market.
‘The Other Side’
Our band, under the name The Other Side, has played the area in various combinations for a decade or more, at venues as varied as Angel and Phelps, (where we played once a month), at numerous Art Festivals and Art openings, at the New Smyrna Beach and Deland Jazz festivals, The Abby, and in Sanford and festivals there. Currently there has been a local rock and roll band using the name The Other Side. Please do not confuse us with them. We play jazz. Our repertoire ranges from uncompromising original jazz, to well know Broadway standards to Monk, Coltrane, Ellington, and others.
George Sword, our bassist, can be heard frequently at the Club 31 Jazz Super Club with The Norman Hoffman Trio. Lea Macquarrie plays saxophones and flute Tuesday nights at the Top of Daytona. Eddie Joiner is a perpetual student of music, and has chased the infinite permutations of time through studies of North Indian tabla in addition to jazz and western musical styles. As a player of the drum set, his jazz inspirations include Elvin Jones, Brian Blades, and Zigaboo Modeliste. He greatly enjoys the interactive improvisation of the small jazz combo format, and has played with many groups throughout the area including the Other Side Quartet with Lea and George.
